Aminophylline is a broncodilator like ventolin and bricanyl usually used as an add on treatment, prednisolone or steroids work by decreasing the inflammation. Side effects of theophylinnes are fast heart rate, palpatations, nausea and stomach probs, headache, tremours or shakes and sllep disturbances!! all of these will seem somewhat mild compared to uncontrolled asthma syptoms. Not everyone has side effects and we all deal with them differently, some people find taking them at 6am and 6pm helps with the sleep problems? Im afraid its trial and error according to your body, but several of us on here have been on it a while and will help all we can.

Love abd best wiahes

Hi Andrea

Thanks for that:-) I am having a few problems down below and some pain but not sure if it is the tablets or something else. I find in this hot weather though i am getting a hot leg and headaches I haven't had before but think this is normal cause I can't remember being this warm:-). My breathing feels better in this hot weather with these tablets and I am on a months trial to see if they work. Also trying to think of socialising on a weekend evening, cause alchohol can affect I haven't had anything to drink after I have taken them - as I take them 8am - 8pm. The 6am one may be better:-)

How long have you been on them - do they help the chest infections from developing? that is my dream but I suppose all of ours:-) I don't respond to oral steriods well and am dreading winter.

hiya Julie l have been on them since my asthma got severe after a bout of pnumonia 6 years ago!! up untill that i only used bricanyl inhaler as needed which wasnt often!! boy how i wish i was back then!! Dont know bout stopping infections as i reinfect as soon as stop antibiotics but thats probably more to do with steroids and immunosuppressives. I dont think it will necesserally stop infections but may give you an increased lung function to deal with it.

Hope you doing ok

Amino when it is at therapeutics levels is a fantastic drug. If you have just started on it then after a while you should get your levels checked (i think it is about a week) to make sure you are taking enough to be therapuetic. When I hit therapeutic levels I feel great it makes a huge difference.

Bex

Hope you are both ok too:-)
