Respironics MicroElite

Just wondering if anyone has bought this neb? I am looking for a new one as old portable neb has broken and this seems very compact and incredibly good value. As always, I am cautious about buying one without hearing if anyone has had experience with this neb first hand.

Thanks

Is it your Omron that has finally packed up??

Anyway, I have had a look at the Respironics web site - looks very neat!

Though it is a compressor so will be a little bit noisy but that may not matter,

I will be easier to keep clean too. The spare parts are quite cheap too.

At a £100 I think It looks good and respironics are a good firm too!

Go for it and let us know how it goes... you can always send it back.

The only down side is that it had its own battery whereas the Omrons run on standard AA bateries - you can have spares to hand - but I think that is a minor issue.

Mmmm, looks tempting... but I don't need a new neb! LOL!

Hope this helps

Take care

Kate

Yeah, my omron, which I have had for about 5 years has packed in. Just was surfing the net for nebs and came across it. Had always fancied the small PARI yellow one for ages but was so expensive. This nebulizer looks better than that and only £99.

Yeah, respironics is good company as I used to have their old freeway, years ago when the freeway was quite big! Was always reliable though, despite being big!

Think I will get one and report back !Hope you doing OK Kate

I was looking at this before I bought my freeway elite. If you do get one please let us know what it's like :D

Just ordered it so will get back to you!

It's quite sad how excited i get when I order a new neb!!!!!

I think I need to get out more!!!

It's too snowy here it Scotland so for now i will just have to stay at home and be excited about my neb instead!!

Have been using this neb for a few weeks. It's fab! very reasonably priced too. Doesn't give you a huge amount of mist, which made me uneasy at first but I think that the particles must be sos mall that it just isn't as visible as with my compressor neb. Nebulizers all the liquid in good time though. So small and compact I would recommend it if any of you are thinking of a new neb in the near future.

I've had this neb for a week now and I'm not convinced mine is working properly? Today I ran it for 20 minutes (turned it off after that to prevent over-heating) and the liquid only ran from 5ml to 4ml. I understand some drug is left in the chamber, and also that the mist is fine, but this doesn't seem right to me? Any suggestions, or is this normal?

I am going to test mine just now! I will run it and see how long it takes to empty. Will get back to you!

All of my medication, except for a tiny drop, was nebulized in 8mins 30secs. I think you should ask for a replacement nebulizer chamber if yours is taking so long. Sounds like it is broken. You could try taking the middle bit out from the inside of the chamber and washing the parts in water. Sometimes mine has run slow before if there is a bit of fluff stick in the middle of the chamber!

Sonds like you might need a new part though.

Thanks for that, Karly. I've just spoken to Nigel at Evergreen who has spoken to the manufacturer and it sounds as though you are right. Apparently they had one other last week that was also not going through, so he's posting out a new chamber which will hopefully sort the problem out.

Fingers crossed!

Good Luck! Hope the new part sorts it out for you.

Gulp!!

Just ordered one!

Though thinking about it, the disposable 'system 22' nebs ( the tube, acorn & mask bit) do fail sometimes as the mushroom bit wears out after a few uses. It may have had a small blip of plastic somewhere that failed to make it work.

Also I find occasionally that if you screw the thing too tight it jams up.

I have faith!!!!! LOL

Kate

PS thunderflies don't doo them much good either!! LOL

kate! I thought you were just saying you didnt need a new neb! You are addicted to neb buying!!!!! Don't worry. mine works fine and it's really dinky! best one I've had so far I reckon. Let me know how you get on with it.

Hope chest behaving!

... ooops! My secret neb fettish has been unearthed!

Anything for a better quality of life me thinks!!!

absolutely!!!!! We shouldn't have to pay for them in the first place but you are right. Why not treat yourself! I have to admit I do get quite excited when ordering a new neb! sad isn't it!

I have 3!

I have an electric and a portable in current use but about 3 old nebs lurking in a cupboard somewhere! can't throw them out as I always worry that I might need them in an emergency!!!

I have 2 big compressers, one small compressor, 2 omron micro ones, one polygreen (retired) and I have just ordered one of these little darlings and a new mesh for my one of my omrons as my son has pinched newest one and taken it off to his new flat.

Hi Everyone

You lo have go me started not and I am curious about this Micro Elite neb, can I ask is it silent (like an omron) or more noisy like a compressor?

I try not to look at nebs until I either need a new one or can jusify it lol! helps me be less tempted to buy every new one that I like!

Thank you

Libby x

it is a compressor neb so does make a bit of a noise. Not as noisy as my normal electric plug in neb though.

Bex that's quite an impressive list!!!!! maybe you should keep them for years and years and then donate them to a museum of medical history!!

I want one!! but cannot think of an excuse to buy a new neb, there all working fine at the mo grrrrrr!

Mine arrived today, Evergreen are so efficient, it buzzes so its not quite like the omron but not half as loud as your standard compressor, there is only one thing i can think of to liken its buzz too and I had better not put that on here but you get them in Anne Summers shops! Minor draw back it does nor come with a mask only a mouth peice so for me would not be much use in a an attack although if I was having an attack I would be nebbing on O2 so I guess it does not matter too much. Its a neat little machine and might take the place of my old compressors for my regular nebs. I suspect I will stick with omron for out and about but it does come with a cigarette charger so it might end up being my car based neb!

Bex

You can buy the Micro Elite mask from thei respironics online shop for £2.50 . Here is their website; respironicsonline.co.uk

I ordered a mask at the same time as I bought my neb as I like using a mask, rather than a mouthpiece, when I am struggling.

Evergreens chucked in a mask for free for mine !!

I smiled sweetly at them as I was a regular customer.
