Hi all ive finally made on!

Hope all the kids are doing ok ,or as well as can be.

Chloe isnt too bad at the mo but im sure that she has tree allergies as she has been sneezing and itchy eyes for the last week. We have a review with the asthma nurse tomorrow so i think we may be back on the piriton for the next6-7 months as well as bringing back the serevent.

Kimkeira- my daughter is also 9 and a mild/moderate asthmatic , she was diagnosed at 4 but only been on daily meds for the last 2 yrs. If u want to chat feel free to message mje. Have u thought about the kick asthma holiday for her ? Chloe went last yr and it really helped her understand and take more responsibility for her asthma.

take care all

Hey hop.. glad to hear things arent too bad. Alls not bad here atm. shane on anti b's other than that he seems settled. Was thinking about the holidays but unsure whether we have the money this year, have the forms thou now.

Hpe all kiddies are doing ok.

Hi, just wanted to say the kick asthma hols are great. My son has been taunton twice and going southampton this year. well he will be going once i get round to filling the forms in! From the info I have read and been told no child would be refused a place due to financial circumstances, I know the places can be subsidised. Its great for the kids to be on holiday with kids the same as them and not feel different. The volunteers on the hols are fantastic, the first time sean went he was 8 and had never been away without me but the staff were very reassuring. I really missed him and of course worried about his meds etc but didnt hestitATE to send him back last year. They teach the kids so much about their condition and being independant.

Well i took Chloe for her review and i ended up teaching new asthma nurse a few things!! We now have to go back to GP and add on serevent (nurse cant prescribe and no dr in!) have asked about either adding intal maintaining pulmicort or if poss stopping or reducing pulmicort. Chloe seems to get a very puffy face when on more than 2 puffs x2 a day. Wasnt impressed with nurse as i joked about chloes pf being higher than mne she seemed rather paniced and wanted me to wait for GP!! (this was b4 smoke prob see camping!!)

Think from now on will just stick to seeing good dr and bypass nurse!

doesnt it drive u mad when u waste a review teaching so called asthma nurses/docs! To be honest I have got so bored with explaining Sean's complex asthma and breathing probs to inexperieced staff. If i ever take him to gp or practice nurse they ask me what medication I need and then tell me they wont decide as he is a brompton patient.

In answer to your question on peak, sean is 10 and yes he and chloe do sound very alike, god help them in southampton lol. Did Chloe go to taunton last yr?

Sean has been so well on both peak hols I felt like a fraud, thank god his medical records back up what i had told them about how severe he can be.

We went to review apt at local hosp on tues this week, consultant was doing ward round so we saw reg who wasnt at all happy with seans pf,breathing, amount of ventolin needed etc and decided he needed theophylline. Reg then said if this was any other child i would prescribe it but he a brompton patient so i will ring them and then contact you....... still waiting 4 days later, no surprise there lol

Julie- hope u get Sean sorted out on mon its a nightmare having top wait when u know something can be done.

Chloe went to Wolverhampton last yr as we were away for the Taunton hols(ironically only in Dorset!)

they do sound like they will get on so it could be fun for the volunteers! I know what u mean about the kids being well when away Chloe was good to but had quite a big splat withing 48hrs of coming home and ended back on pred and antibs!

Hope all the other kids are doing ok? take care all

got a call from local hospital to say he waiting reply from royal brompton. Ten mins later RBH reg called said consultant has moved seans next apt forward as doc concerned. His next apt was may 2nd and they've moved it to next tuesday. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this bad spell soon.

Hope all kids are doing ok

hi

please could i hear from other parents who have lost a child to asthma, theres soo much to try and understand. my daughter kiera stewart had mild, moderate asthma since the age of two had ventolin, becotide and seravent inhalers, also singulair tablets. Kiera also had allergies and exzema, she had an epipen for a raw egg allergy which thankfully i didnt have to use. Kiera was eleven was just starting puberty and semed to be coughing more at night. sadly my beautiful girl passed away on the 3rd of september this year of acute asthma. IT WAS SOO SUDEN, UNEXPECTED AND QUICK. She hadnt complained of being unwell the day before had been at a hip hop class was playing on our trampoline with her sister and friends, had her usual something to eat before bed nothing unusual. during the early hours of the morning she came into my room said she couldnt breathe, Kiera often did this and i told her to go back to bed and take her inhaler, i did the same that nite. minutes later my younger daughter candice shouted that kiera wasnt talking to her, i ran through and kiera was lying on the bed lifeless i knew then she was gone. Why i blame maself should have got up. DOCS SAID NOTHING COULD have been done she would have been gone in mins which doent give me much comfort though am glad she didnt suffer. Me my partner and family struggling to come to terms with her death. She was such a happy girl looking forward to life and t was snatched from her.
