Well after 7 years of fighting to prove my son has astmha and frequent hospital admissions, constant changes in inhalers and medications, asthma diaries, peak flows etc I thought I'd finalyy won the battle when they started puting down asthma on his notes. The hospital still treated us appallingly though. After last admission to hospital where we were treated really bad, I had a rant to my sons heart doctor who said he'd speak to his colleage who is a lung specialist to see if he'd take my son on. We had an appointment monday, when the new consultant agreed the other hospital was incompetent but that he doesn't believe he has asthma or if he does it's not the main problem, and that due to his heart problems he thinks something else is the cause, so now we are back up in the air and my son is booked in for a broncoscopy (camera into the lungs) next thursday!!!!!

doctors and broncoscopy!
Good luck, my Son had this over a year ago. At the time he had it done were told it was red raw in his lungs so its asthma. Check up 3 weeks later we were told its not asthma as he doesn't wheeze. My Son woke up in the middle of it and pulled out his line then tried to pull out tube! They had to stop what they were doing so couldn't do all the tests they needed(don't worry, he needs high doses of medication to knock him out) We have finally been told it is asthma, it's been a long slog and we still don't understand his condition. We don't get warning signs unless he has a cold.

luckily they are going to knock him out completely. I'm just sick of all this bnack and forth. my son does wheeze sometimes but other times doesn't. He does have allergies, and everytime we go to my sisters (she has a german sheppard) his eyes go all red and puffed up, his nose funs and his throat goes all big, then he starts with his 'asthma'. This plus allthe other evidence from astmha diaries and the family history. you'd think they'd just accept it and try to manage it rather than putting him through procedures like this to try and prove it's something else.
Well nothing wrong with lungs, was a bit of infection and a lot of mucus, so the doctor has said most likely is asthma and maybe also partly bronchiltus. He would like to see my son when he's having an attack to be sure! different hospital to our nearest A&E!
