I've lived with chronic lower back pain and gone from 10yrs of high dose buprenorphine then 5yrs of tramadol then taken off it completely. Now on paracetamol and naproxen which do nothing for pain. I can't walk very well or domy physio now.

I have never been able to take opiate meds, I do however take Pregabalin a nerve blocker. No pain killer cures lower back pain. I’m on a Pain management course, which helps you understand how the brain doesn’t switch off pain receptors, we are being taught to gently stretch and build more exercise into our regime, meditate, mindfulness to keep moving and stop getting stiff etc. All takes time but hopefully will help to live and manage pain x
hi, I was taken off Tramadol and just given Zapain that’s paracetamol with code in which doesn’t help much at all. I can’t walk far either because of back groin and hip pain. The meds are just hopeless i’m afraid
sorry to hear that Mauimags. What about CoCodamol , I find that helps a little bit. 😘
personally I’m on Butec, supplemented by co-codamol or indomycethin. I walk a lot and do ten minutes of gentle exercise most mornings.
I also buy turmeric, which helps back pain, and glucosamine with chondroitin which helps foot pain. My husband takes magnesium which helps his back pain but this does nothing for me.
I have found acupunture amazing for back pain, Got rid of it for years.
I have had to pay but it used to be possible to get via pain clinics, not sure if it still is.
I had acupuncture via the pain management team for a few years and I believe it really helped me. NICE put a paper together saying that there was no evidence to suggest acupuncture was effective for back pain and withdrew that service. I was then offered CBT through the pain management team which emphasised on positive thinking and mindfulness. Unfortunately I am not very receptive to abstract. I now exercise to strengthen my core and attend a Tai chi for arthritis class which is wonderful. I still need to take Co-codamol and Amitriptyline at night .
I would if I were you. I prefer a more holistic way and take meds as a last resort. Good luck.
I feel for you…I’m 56 and had my first knee replacement at 39, since as previously mentioned, I’ve had the second knee, both hips and both elbows replaced. Most recent were the hips and the relief from the inner thigh pain that’s common with the hip arthritis is tremendous. I have early onset plain-jane osteoarthritis that began in major joints around age 40 then progressed with much vim and vigor! While I’ve “complained” about the hip replacements I could have no semblance of a normal life without these joint replacements.
