Pollen

Every year I become unwell due to pollen …feels like I have a cold coming ,dry cough , runny nose , sneezing , joint aches ,headaches, lethargy , ears pop when blowing my nose , neuralgic type pain’s especially in my head and face …these symptoms vary and at their worse I actually feel quite ill .

The symptoms fluctuate from day to day and greatly affect my life on top of other health issues .

I take 3 x2 daily Dr Vogel pollinosan tablets . I have taken nose sprays in the past and applied Vaseline etc but not at the moment . I attend a homeopath for other reasons and weekly chiropractic treatments as I just about seize up . I live on the edge of Dartmoor where it is assumed the air is cleaner but am surrounded by trees .

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Hi,

I'm down at the pointy end of Cornwall, around the Hayle area, surrounded by farmland and trees and your comments "due to pollen …feels like I have a cold coming ,dry cough , runny nose , sneezing , joint aches ,headaches, lethargy , ears pop when blowing my nose" describe me perfectly. Every year its the same and I'm pretty fed up with it.

Because I'm on a range of other meds for a heart arrythmia I'm reluctant to take anything more than nasal spray ........... Pirinase, but its not a permanent fix.

Just gotta shut up and put up I guess.

John

Every year I wake up one day with a headache so I know that the rape is in flower. I never get headaches at any other time.

I'm suranded by trees. With me it's starts with tight chest, breathing gets difficult, watery/itchy eyes, sneezing. Sadly I have quite few medical conditions = quite a few meds. I use my blue inhaler more, eye drops and tried all sorts of nose spray ended up with steroid which really helps and I can sleep at night. Hayfever gives me headache, bad tiredness, I can't breathe through my nose at all ,my sinuses, joint pain and all of the above. I guess I just have to shut up and get on with it just like with the rest of my illness 🤒 🙃.

Good luck everyone with the Hayfever season 🤧. Take care of yourself. Do whatever best works for you. 🤗xx

No it isn't but hayfever is nothing compared with other serous illness/disease people have. That's the way I look at life and I'm grateful I'm still here and enjoy every day as much as I can 🙂.

Are there Birch trees around you? When I took part in a trial for a cat and housedust vaccine we were all initially tested with Birch as the medics said if you don’t react to Birch then you don’t have an allergy and couldn’t take part. Apparantly it is the worst for causing reactions - or should that be best! Either way the trees could be a large part of your problem. Also daffodils being an issue was unknown to me until a few years ago and I grew up amidst hordes of them and yes I react badly to both these and Birch and there are loads of Birch around where I live, a huge on being in the neighbour’s garden. I stay in a lot in the summer which is a shame as I hate Winter! I hope you can find relief.

Good morning, Middleageandtired. In my youth I was devastated every year, trying to enjoy life and battle with Hay Fever. As other people in this feed eluded to, each has their own pollen triggers. Little was really discussed back in the 70s, I just had to suck it up and live with it.

My father suggested that I tried yoga nasal flushing. Although uncomfortable and no idea what I was doing. I persevered and after 4-5 months, I started getting relief. Within a few years I was Hay Fever free.

Now I use Sterimar daily in the evening which also helps with sinusitis and hardly any flare ups of Hay Fever.

This might be worth exploring. Good luck, Ian.

Thank you for your reply ..I do have a netti pot which I have used about twice a few years ago but hated it But it sounds like I should persevere with it !!
