Just wanted to ask if anyone is taking Allopurinol 300mg ? If so how long have you been taking it and how quickly has it bought your uric acid levels down ? I was on 100mg per day and mine came down from 558 to 460 in 2 months which was the end of July. I was increased to 300mg per day and started taking those on the 3rd August, would anyone know what my numbers could possibly be now as I am due another blood test soon ? TIA 😘

Hello there , your uric acids are very high ., but they are coming down which is good. Allopurinol is normally a lifetime drug to reduce gout flares. It takes a while to find a suitable dose and unfortunately there are only two drugs available to control uric acid levels that I am aware of. Other things that help are diet, weight loss , and check other drugs that you may have been taking long term. To reduce my uric acids I had to try all the none tablet things and stop a blood pressure tablet that puts up uric acids with long term use. It does take time to get the uric acids stable Best wishes
I have been taking 300mg once a day for about 10 years. In that time, I have had the odd very minor flare up. Besides the tablet I avoid as much as possible the known trigger foods. Good luck.
Apologies for the tardy reply. I watch the sugar content of everything I eat. Avoid sugary drinks in particular. I avoid seafood or anything high in Purine. Red meat is another.
