Where did you hear that ciprofloxacin caused ruptured tendons? That does not sound right. I get sciatica occasionally, it is agony. Do you have a TENS machine? That helps a little also physiotherapy does too. There are certain exercises that help as well.
I asked google if it could cause sciatica it said yes ,i saw a consultant at the hospital yesterday and she said yes. i am trying exercises ,i will look into the tens machine
I have heard of it causing weakness, lower back pain and neuropathy, but never ruptured tendons. Was this accepted research?
That is quite right. There is a self-help group for those damaged by cipro. I only had 2 tablets which caused trigger finger, which needed cortisone injection. I now have ongoing problems with the joints in my fingers. The side effects of this nasty drug are extensively documented on the internet.
Yes, you are right, it is known to cause tendon problems. I was told this by my consultant so did some research to confirm. I have a concern regarding Azithromycin. My consultant wants me to go on this antibiotic long term but gave me a booklet which sets out the side effects. One being it can cause irreversible deafness. As I am already partly deaf and wear a hearing aid I am reluctant to take them for the time being. Most medication has some side effects and one has to familiarise oneself with the possibilities and make an informed decision to take them. I hope you get your problems sorted soon.
Cheers x
Yes I understand Azithromycin is an excellent antibiotic and I would like to take it. However, I dont want to go completely deaf! Many others on this forum responded to my query about this antibiotic and yes, did become deaf while others have not. Did your deafness occur before or after taking Azithromycin?
Ah, so your deafness was not caused by taking Azithromycin as you already had hearing problems. If your deafness had begun after you started Azithromycin it would possibly be linked to that. I think I will have to see if my health deteriorates further to help with the decision to take it or not. Thank you for your reply whit, it has helped a lot. Out of interest are you going to continue taking Ciproflaxin?
