My title could have been Out of Touch. I’m part of a huge family suffering the loss of our mother, and splintered somewhat by Covid restrictions. My youngest has been through infertility and IVF without any hugs from me: she’s pregnant - the phone being our only lifeline. Having had my jab and waiting for the 2nd so I can visit my beloved ex mum in law 101yrs old. She’s confused, broken her hip and tested positive but now recovering. I feel as though it’s unreal, a horrible dream. Nobody could have ever persuaded me that I could neglect to see either my daughters or my dear friends unless death itself had taken me. I have to have faith in the vaccination program - that we will see each other soon.

Hello

You have been through a lot then, this covid has messed with everyone's life but as you say the vaccine will hopefully change things.

Doing the simple things in life are what I miss most of all, a cup of tea with a friend or visiting family in their homes.

Hopefully we will be back to normal soon.

Have a good day.

Hi Lollybygolly , thanks for sharing your story, what a lovely picture!

This is certainly a difficult time for everyone right now due to the ongoing pandemic, however it's great to hear that you have a large, loving family around you, no matter how far away they may be. It may be worth speaking to them about how you can stay in touch digitally until you're able to reunite in person, perhaps by arranging a weekly phone call, or a fun event such as a bingo night or book club over a video call.

Hopefully we're now nearing the end of a national lockdown and we'll have things to look forward to soon. The Arthritis Action charity website has a few pages on looking after your mental health and wellbeing during this time, which may also be useful:

Good to hear from you, do let us know how you get on, and stay well!

Have faith in yourself as well lots of people have been in the situation you areMy neighbours daughter has a new baby and she was so upset and angry that she couldn’t go see them but she shook herself out of it got the test (negative ) followed all the rules and has since seen her first grandchild ( she has three daughters one lives in Japan) you have to believe in yourself or no one else will and congrats to your ex mama in law for reaching 101 what is her secret? 🌈love the rainbow it’s proof that light and live comes back to the world after the storm passes blessings to you 🥰
