I'm so sorry Muds that you are anxious. I don't take methro. myself but a friend has just started it and it made her very nauseous, but that is wearing off.

I imagine that the information given you with the medication does mention nausea.

In the meantime to help with your anxiety, have you tried controlled breathing? I'm sure a google search will find you something, or if you are interested in the particular technique that helps me please do post again and I will describe it. It does take a little while to learn - just like anything.

Hi Muds68 , sorry to hear you're feeling nauseous at the moment. We definitely recommend you calling your nurse or a healthcare professional about how you're feeling after taking the medication, and they can advise you further based on your own medical history and background.

In the meantime, we have some videos and website pages with more information on medication and arthritis which could be good for you to be aware of.

Hope these are useful, let us know how you get on!

Hey Muds68, did they not prescribed you anti sickness tablets for the oral methotrexate, if not ask the GP to. Sadly the side effects of nausea and sickness never passed for me on the oral methotrexate but when I moved to the injection i was able to tolerate it with little to no side effects for a considerable amount of time (over 10 years now). Perhaps the anxiety will settle as your body gets used to the intro of methotrexate.

Good morning Muds68

METHOTREXATE!! I tried it twice, each time for quite a few months. I used to take it on a Thursday, come Friday l was convinced l was going to die, by Sunday evening l would be feeling a little better.

I would speak to the rheumatologist and was told persevere. Once I phoned and spoke to one of the nurses and was told to stop straight away.

We are all different, one man’s meat is another man’s poison. Methotrexate is great if your body is ok with it, mine definitely was not. I have met many people who have been on it for years, no problems.

You must go for your monthly blood tests.

I was never told to, not good.

Wishing you all the very best, Tim.
