Hi Katie
You can use the Patient Transport Service.
Patient Transport Services
As well as dealing with ‘999’ emergency calls, West Midlands Ambulance Service plays a key role in getting thousands of patients to and from their out-patient appointments and take people home from hospital. We complete in the region of one million non-emergency Patient Transport Service (PTS) journeys each year.
We have contracts in Birmingham, Black Country, Coventry & Warwickshire and Worcestershire as well as throughout Cheshire and Wirral. To check whether you’re eligible for transport, to make a booking or for general enquiries please click here.
The Trust employs nearly 900 PTS staff using more than 350 vehicles to get patients to and from their hospital appointments throughout the region and beyond, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The journeys are booked and co-ordinated by dedicated control rooms based in Stafford, Coventry, Brierley Hill, Warrington and Frankley.
WMAS has a vast experience of running PTS operations and has successfully met all Key Performance Indicators by being able to show that we can cater for individual patient needs. One of the key areas for us is to ensure our staff are well trained and that they have the right equipment to provide the highest quality service to our patients.
PTS staff are fully trained in basic first aid; manual handling; infection prevention and control; and driving. Many staff receive specialist bariatric training.

Thank you for your reply, I do have details for patient transport however on several occassions I have been refused this service and asked to complain if dissatisfied in fact on one occassion after a fall they sent out a fireengine to treat me , when the ambulance did arrive the so called paramedic spilt all the pain killer over the floor . I had got a broken shoulder not very proffessional , that was two years ago. More recently 111 sent an ambulance out and I could not fault the crew or the service I received at the hospital. It can sometimes be hit and miss even with patient transport for disabled. I am fed up of trying to get freinds to deliver me to the hospital on the small number of occassions I ask, even after a fall when I could be at further risk or after an operation while still recovering . While others who can walk to their car get patient transport provided. In fact I beleive the service is still running during the coronavirus to get those in need to medical appointments. I do not abuse the service or the staff and used to work for the NHS before retirement and social services. Sorry for going on but you made it sound so easy to get the service and that is not the case I can assure you even for rehabilitation physio. Enjoy your day.
