OA affecting other joint
I've been Diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in my neck in 2010, but the last 2 years I've noticed I'm getting pain in my Knee joints. I've not told the Doctor but could it be Osteoarthritis spreading.
Yes unfortunately it often does. I started off with it in my back and then I started to have symptoms in my hands and wrists and it has unfortunately spread to other parts of my body. It all started in my late 40's and has taken quite a few years to progress to this stage.x
Mine just seems to be progressing to fast for my liking
Raelouise, Mine originally started in both of my hand and feet six years ago. Two years after I started feeling it and noticing signs of it I was diagnosed with what form that mine is. Since my diagnosis mine has started all down my spine as well as my knees and shoulders and one of my hips too. It can be very painful. It makes me want to sit a lot when my feet hurt as well as my spine. I’ve noticed swelling on tops of both of my feet a few months ago. I told my gp about it but he did nothing to reduce the swelling on top of both of my feet. I believe it’s now in my ankles as well. Do to the fact that they feel sore at times too. But I could be wrong I don’t know. I was in my 30’s when I was diagnosed with osteoarthritis. Now almost in my mid 40’s . It’s frustrating not being able to do what you want do to the pain when it effects the joints that have started with it. I’m at the point now of not telling my GP anymore on what I feel do to the fact he won’t do anything to help me. He saw the top of both of my feet when I saw him last and at the time they were swollen but like I said did nothing about it. So all I can say is good luck to what you find will help you.
😁👍, mine started off in my hips due to hip dysplasia now I have noticed my finger joints are becoming bent, shoulder and foot joints have to same painful problems. Doctors bearly listen to you when you go and see them but that won't stop me I will make myself a pain to them until they listen.
Mine hurts the worst all down my spine plus my feet as well. Combine those to it makes it difficult to move around. Now that the cooler weather has arrived here where I am I feel it more and more as well. Don’t let yours get the best of you. I’ve been trying to do the same but just don’t think I can take anymore of this by pushing through like I’ve been doing.
It doesn't really spread like a rash. But as we age the lubrication in our joints begin to dry up and so as we move these joints it causes pain and can eventually cause joint damage. If you get OA in one joint (ie. Thumb base) it is likely that your other joints will also dry up and begin to hurt.
Regular exercise can help.
When you exercise your body releases synovial fluid onto your joins which lubricates them and also it can help build bones, I have OA in my neck and feet, running and weight training seem to be helping a lot.
For pain relief, try turmeric and black pepper capsules, they work very well but don't take them if you are on blood thinners.
