Is it possible to have both Osteo and Rheumatoid Arthritis??

I suffer from several autoimmune diseases - Hashimotos, PA, Lichen Sclerosus so assumed that my joint pain (really severe now) in my knees was RA. However, reading up on here and other arthritis sites, it is far more common for that to be osteoarthritis. I also have tenderness round my finger joints and wondered if it could be that I have both (I can see no logical reason why it couldn't be, sadly). I am currently taking paracetemol plus ibuprofen and waiting for the results from my x-ray a couple of days ago. If it is Osteoarthritis in my knees, is it possible to get them 'cleaned out' or is that a totally different thing??

You can definitely have both RA and OA at the same time. I've had RA for 32 years and OA for 6 years. It's quite common.

Poemsgalore1 Thanks for replying, but in actual fact, having decided to try cycling in order to help with exercise, my right knee (the worse of the two) clicked every time I pushed the pedal down so I now think it may be a cartilage problem (hopefully because i believe that is repairable rather than manageable). Waiting for x-ray result, fingers crossed.
