Hi linda. Is it osteoarthritis or osteoporosis you have ? Quite different conditions.

I assume your consultant is aware of what you have and has explained how your condition will impact on the knee replacement both before and after the surgery.

If you are not sure please talk to your GP.

I have osteoarthritis in much of my spine. I had joint fusion last year but the surgeon would not have operated if it had been osteoporosis as it would could have effected the fusion success. I had only small changes in the sacrioilic joint which was the one fused.

Best of luck with your surgery but do discuss your concerns with your surgeon. He is human - really

I have terrible arthritis, is yours osteoporosis or osteoarthritis ? Right before my last knee replacement I was told that I would need surgery on my cervical spine due to damage I have and arthritis, I knew it was a problem because I could barely move my head and lift my arms. I got into physical therapy for my neck and spine and made sure I was in the best shape I could be despite my other health problems of which I have a few, stage 4 kidney disease, heart problems, fibromyalgia & chronic fatigue syndrome and as I said I have very bad arthritis. I came through like a champ. I just made up my mind that I could get through whatever was to come. Wishing you all the best ! You have got this ! Talk to your doctor about any concerns you have, they are the best to advise you.
