I have O.A. mainly in my ankles, I take pain relief, and I can walk short distances, but I have days when i am housebound. I keep busy, but sometimes the isolation is unbearable, I dont feel that I am serving any purpose.
Does anyone know of support groups within the wythenshawe area??

My lovely auntie had really bad arthritus and was such a bubbly character, she too disliked the isolation she sometimes felt. Her chair was always next to her telephone. (No mobiles in those days)
Although she lived in an old fashioned 2 story house and never used the upstairs, she rightly refused to move to more suitable accomodation for fear of loosing her local network of friends.
Here are a couple of links that may be of help. The first is a contact for your local group. The second is a Google search and the 6th link down is of varied activities in your area particularly for people with health needs. I hope they are of some assistance.
Penny, I too have OA and know what your talking about. Mine is in my hands, shoulders, knees and feet as well also the lower spine area. Yes I too have good and bad days as well When I have bad days they're unbearable for me as well. I now have a warm sensation that goes down my right thigh as well that I think happens to do with my lower back with a pinched nerve I'm guessing.
