Elevated A1c and glucose

I continue to be taking Prednisone 40mg for GCA/PMR. I had fasting lab tests last week. May A1c was 6.7%. The estimated average glucose was 146mg/dL. This is the highest my glucose has ever been. I sent an e-mail to my Primary care doctor this morning.

I know that Prednisone can increase the glucose. For those of you that have experienced Prednisone induced diabetes, what is the treatment you follow. Are you able to treat it with diet and exercise or do have a diabetic medication as well.

As you decreased your Prednisone, did your glucose also decrease.

My sister has Diabetes type 2 and has had to try many different meds to control her symptoms.

I appreciate your experience and advice.
