Daughter cutting herself..

I Worte last week about my daughter and that she was getting help..turns out she is basically in a sue for help, so nothing really forthcoming this past week..and now today she has tried to do her own c-section..so she is being sent to a mental health unit that has no experience of dealing with a pregnant woman...and I think the plan Is to keep her there until a mother and baby unit will take her at 33/34 weeks.she is 28 weeks at the minute.. I am so angry with the world right now..I'm angry with her for putting her and the babies life at risk..and I'm really angry at the system that just lets mothers like my daughter slip through the net because there is NO help out there..not really..its us , the families that are left to pick up the pieces !!

Hi RedRosie36,

I'm so sorry to hear the difficult time you and your daughter have been having, it can be frustrating trying to get the support you need at the time your daughter needs it. You've said you're feeling angry at your daughter and at the system and it must be so difficult for you watching from the sidelines. She sounds really unwell and although you know it's the illness making her do these things it must be distressing when you know how high the stakes are for her baby (and herself).

I suppose now that she is in a mental health unit that she will at least initially be closely monitored so perhaps that can take some of the weight of the worry from you and the rest of the family.

I think family are so so important when it comes to mental health difficulties and your daughter is lucky to have, a Mum who cares and wants her to get well.

Best wishes to you and will be thinking of you and your daughter,

Hazello

Hi, I'm so sorry to read this but hopefully now she will be safe in the mental health unit. I know I mentioned before that I was in Stafford MBU. I know it's not your nearest MBU but they do now admit from 28 weeks so may be worth asking for this to be looked into. Your daughter could always be moved later on x take care x

Hello RedRosie36

I was very sorry to read about your daughter's setback. I think she must have felt helpless at the time of her self harm and didn't realise the implications of her actions. I hope she is now stable in the mental health unit and although it might not have the proper facilities at least she will be safe.

It must be very frustrating to see your daughter in such distress but I hope you will be able to find support for her until your grandchild is due and arrangements are put in place for continuity of care. Please take care of yourself too as this must be a very stressful time.

We are all here to lean on ......
