increased anxiety

hope everyone is doing relatively well....is heightened anxiety quite common when starting a lot of SSRI's? just started Lexapro/Escitalopram...thanks

Very much so! Has your prescriber given you anything to help with the start up effects to take the edge off? If not, do ask as it's a recognised thing in the first couple of weeks or so. If the anxiety gets severe, tell your prescriber right away as it's an importantly sign that uour start up dose may be too high or the drug is not for you. Good luck!💜

Usually it's more heightened because that's probably all you are mentally focusing on at the moment, which is increasing your anxiety. Try to relax some and shift your focus to something else or go do something else and give your mind a rest and be kind to yourself. It generally takes a week or more before SSRI meds start to make a noticeable difference.
