hi everyone,

reaching out to anyone about the ssri, sertraline/Zoloft..today is 3 calendar months since starting at 50mgs, until reaching 200, as per my physician..feeling some disappointment as I had read so many positives, but don't feel its worked the same for myself..kept believing it was to soon, but feel thats not the case any longer, I think its been enough time? big issue with GAD, and social anxiety especially, feel disconnect..would welcome feedback from anyone who is either on it, or, has been on it, and also dealing with the same disorders..glad that it worked for so many out there...sometimes I don't know how to gage my progress', can anyone relate to this? I have friends and my Dr who say I'm better, my mental state has improved? why am I feeling like I'm not??? thanks.

Hi Hollick.

I have been taking Sertraline for well over two years now and I've found that it helped alongside some of the counselling services which are available to me where I live. I also have a good support system and have been able to manage the social anxiety side of my problem by pushing myself to do things like volunteering. It got me back into regular contact with people outside my family and gave me a boost by helping other people who had different issues to me.

It can be difficult to gauge how successful your treatment is or if you're improving - the nature of anxiety, at least to me, is that it can prioritize unhelpful thoughts and give you a skewed perception of how you're really doing. It may be something of a leap of faith to accept that you're doing better when others are telling you that this is the case, if your brain doesn't perceive that things are better.

I hope that you feel better today - take one day at a time and be proud of the fact that you are working to feel healthier and less worried.

I have been taking sertraline for a little over a year now at 50mg.

For me it help just to slow down my thoughts.

I can relate to how you feel expecting for this miracle thing to happen

And it will but not just because of the medication it will because you will start to feel like your old self getting stronger each day until it just becomes a memory of what you were going through.

Interesting reply,,a memory of what you were going through, I suffered trauma 2 years ago and have just sought help, was prescribed sertraline to hopefully slow down my thoughts and just make all of this a bad memory.
