Dr. Appointment today

Feeling extra anxious after my appointment today. I saw the PA rather then my regular dr because she was booked on appointments for a while. The nurse couldn’t get a good reading on my blood pressure and ended up taking it 8 different times. She kept switching arms and cuff sizes. The final reading ended up being 112/93 and she seemed very concerned. The PA said he wasn’t going to diagnose me with high blood pressure but we should keep an eye on it and I should work on improving my diet/ lowering salt, etc. I have extremely bad health anxiety so needless to say I’ve been in a panic ever since. I explained how freaked out I was and he told me not to lose any sleep over it. But it’s so hard for me to not worry about it. Anyone else have a similar experience? He also increased my lexapro from 10mg to 20mg, which I’ll start tomorrow. Hoping that helps with my anxiety. I felt like I was doing a lot better with my health anxiety and I feel like I had a huge setback today.

Sorry you had a huge setback today, often mu blood pressure is high at my appointments because I am so anxious. Try going out to a drug store tomorrow and using one of those machines and recheck it. Hope you start feeling better soon and the new medicine increase helps.

I actually have a device to check my blood pressure at home but I don’t let myself use it because I’ll start checking it obsessively. Thank you for replying and for your kind words 💙

You’re very welcome! I hope you start feeling better soon. It’s ok to have a setback day as long as we new pushing forward and do stay setback.

All the time. I could be at my primary dr for something as minor as constipation because of my period , whatever the case . The nurse takes my BP and I’ll get anxious . Lol idk what gives ..smh
