Scary spaciness and forgot how to speak.

Anyone with anxiety ever experience this?

Earlier today I was in a meeting, and was in the middle of saying something, when all of a sudden, I couldn't keep a hold on my thoughts. And not in the normal, "what was I saying?" kind of way. But like, a terrifying "my brain stopped working, what am I trying to say, where am I?" kind of feeling. And everything started to sound like it was really far away, kind of like I was in a tin box or something. Eventually I was able to come back to myself and finish my thought, but it was really scary. I got really panicky and then had a headache following.

Again, it wasn't the normal spaciness, it was insane. Like I just forgot how to speak english and was kind of removed from reality for a minute.

I have horrible health anxiety and have been monitored for seizures, and absolutely nothing has come back, so I really feel like I'm at a loss.

Hi italiancookie, this is something that needs to be checked out by your doctor.

It sounds more like a physical issue. Let us know how you are after seeing your

doctor. Wish you well. xx

When you got monitored for seizures, why were you?

Lol this issue happened to me today. I’m terrified of seizures. I was obsessing over them (I’ve been checked via MRI and EEG - none found) and then my mind went blank when I was thinking of them and trying to talk. I’ve even had my leg hurt when I read leg pain is a sign of diseases.

Have your neurologist check up on you if you’re worried.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve had four EEGs and one of them was over five days in the hospital. I had an edible two and a half years ago that set all of this off and it’s just never really stopped - and my mom has epilepsy so I’ve been scared of seizures my whole life.

But after all of that, no abnormal activity was detected. It’s just that I don’t think my mind going completely blank is a normal sign of anxiety....like not being able to form a sentence. At this point, I don’t know what other texting can be done. I feel like I’ve had everything lol MRIs and all.

Hmm... What did the neurologist think? Did those episodes happen when you got the EEGs?

I’m scared of seizures, too. There’s no history in my family that I know of, but I got a weird thing happen during a panic attack where I was getting like bits of dreams popping in my head. It was scary! It did happen when I had my EEG, and she said nothing was picked up. I’m wondering if “auras” would be? I’ve been told it’s just anxiety.. I’m not sure what to do :( Gah! I guess it doesn’t hurt to follow back with the neurologists?

I had some things happen during the EEG, and it was enough to make my specialist think I was fine. But I’ve since had another neurologist tell me it could still be seizures. So honestly, I don’t know what to do either lol

You should see if they can get you one of those video EEGs. It won’t hurt!

There was video while I was in the hospital. I think I’m retaking it though in a couple months.
