Hi Rgnonti, It is a painless procedure, usually over in 15 minutes not including prep time. You are given an Iodine IV that will give you a slight warm feeling throughout your body for a few moments. The dye is so the blood vessels and arteries are highlighted in the scan. The technician may ask you to hold your breath for a second just to get a better view.

You will be fine. Try to relax by just breathing normally. You may want to count backwards or think of things you want to accomplish in 2018....anything to take your mind off everything around you. I wish you well and please let us know how you did. xx

Agora1 is right. Easy deal. If you have anxiety issue about the equipment, ask if ok for your MD to rx low dose xanax, etc. to calm you. Sometimes, earphones with music is provided while doing the study. You're going to do well.

Good advise. I've found that just closing your eyes to ignore how close the tube's walls are to you rally helps. Just thin happy thoughts and it will be finished quickly.

Ask for a washcloth to place over your eyes or some places provide blind folds...just ask.
