Hi Joseph69, Welcome to the Anxiety Forum. What seems to be going on that is making you lonely and confused? This is a great forum, where I hope you will feel comfortable and understood. We are here to support each other in our daily struggles with anxiety issues.

Looking forward to you joining in.

Your not alone. We have been through a lot of different situations and are here for support. Do you want to talk about it? I will never judge. I have been judged my whole life.

I have anxiety attacks daily.if I drive and get stuck in traffic I panic.I fear waiting in line at the stores.I can't even stay at church all the way through with out a attack.

in reply to Joseph69

Do you know the source? For me it's childhood serial abuse, a horrific fiery car crash and storms. I know the reason but I am on meds and still have severe anxiety. Counseling could be good to figure out why or deal with your past. For me, not so much. I still have to drive and it rains in Texas way too much. I don't have all the answers but I can lend an ear and tell you what I have experienced in my forty four years. Do you have someone to talk to? Wife or other?

I have no one.this all began to me in 2012 after I had a stroke after that no one wanted to know me no more not even my family.two months after it happened I began to do at here thing's and became a addicted.I have try to quit several Times but failed.

in reply to Joseph69

I was hospitalized after a break with reality for two months and no one wanted to hang around either. People dont want to be friends sometimes if it's hard. I was an addict for sixteen years to deal with my past but it led to the hospital so I had to quit. I was tackled twice by cops to be put in the car because of the effects. Now I find alcohol soothing. I am drinking tonight, the third time in six weeks as compared to a pint a night for four years. I hope you have dealt with the issues that caused the stroke first off. If your health is good now then you can get help with addiction. I know it's the pot calling the kettle black. I went to free government counseling but never told the truth because I was afraid they would call cps. I take excellent care of my daughter and drink sometimes when she goes to sleep. I'm trying to deal with anxiety here so I can deal with addiction on my own. Maybe not the best idea, but it's what I can afford.

My addict is excessive masturbation and ejaculation.up to 6 times a day everyday.since 2012. I try to end it but I keep returning to it.this is not the only think that is a problem in my life.

But it is probably the biggest one rite now.

in reply to Joseph69

Well, as a female I don't really know how to approach that one at all. My hubby could probably help since with my secure abuse is without quite often. Since he's not here I bet a male responder could help. I guess I would wonder if it's not hurting anyone then why is it a problem. I guess it could become an obsession. Umm, men, help here.

Melhall, sometimes hearing from people who have gone through the same experiences can help more than a trained therapist who is book learned. Not to put them down, but I see you've been through a lot and have learned a lot about yourself and coping skills I hope you continue going forward. Handling an addiction is tough without support but I wish you well for your sake and your daughter's. x

Hi Joseph69, oh can we relate. I've been there and it was mind boggling. Depending in how long you have experienced the daily attacks, I will tell you that it does and will go away. First things first. Usually anxiety attacks come on when too much stress as been piled on as that we can no longer handle living like this. Like a pressure cooker. As the steam builds up in the pot eventually it needs to escape.

Finding out or realizing what started the stress building is a great help. Working on solutions to eliminating or bringing down your stress levels (with a therapist) will help a lot. If the anxiety is out of control and life altering, then seeing a doctor for some short term medication will help you in going forward.

There are many ways you can help yourself but I don't think you are in that position right now. It may be the time to get a little more stable first. You will learn from others on the forum in how they deal with their daily anxiety and symptoms. I could go on and on but don't want to overwhelm you on your first day.

Just want you to know that you are not alone as well as Welcoming you to the Anxiety Forum. It is the first step in getting to your destination, Anxiety Free :)

I have seen a doctor and he put me on 1mg tabs of valium to take each time it came on .it worked for while but it don't help me now much.

Joseph, Benzos like Valium only help for so long. It is a quick acting medication that is used just to get a person through a tough short period of time. Once it gets into chronic stage, taking it won't do any good because our brain wants higher doses. You say this all started when you had a stroke back in 2012 (I'm very sorry about that). I'm sorry as well that family and friends chose to leave. Unfortunately, it happens a lot. I think it's because people don't know how to deal with certain health issues. And mental issues, they really don't have a clue.

When you say you are addicted, do you mean to psychotropic drugs? If so, I prefer the word dependent. It happened to me when left on Xanax. I did successfully get off it.

How is your health basically due to the stroke. Any residual effects from it? You mentioned being able to go to store, church as well as drive. Are you doing it on your own?

The drug I use is adrenaline I use it 6 times a day since .2012 I try to stop Tue use of it but now I am addicted to it.I haven't used it in the last 4 days.I think the afterwords effect is probably badder then useing it.

OMG Joseph, no wonder you are going through these bouts of panic and anxiety. You can't possibly stop this cold turkey. Be careful..You need professional help in safety weaning off any drug. It's not a fast process.

Any way you can get some help with this?

Joseph69 profile image
Joseph69 in reply to Agora1

I can reduce it a little each day I have even on it for so long I not sure how to do it my dad had a addiction and he cold bird it .two drugs at once.

Agora1 in reply to Joseph69

Joseph, It took me 2 years to wean down off of a 30 year dependency of Xanax & Ativan. The doctors had left me on it (small dose) The psychiatrist used a credible format from Dr. Ashton's schedule of weaning off Benzos. Slow cuts in 2 week periods. And even that was a nightmare.

Just be safe. After your having had a stroke you should be even more careful in weaning. Only an Addiction Therapist would know how to do this.

Good Luck Let us know how you do.

Joseph, I was just reading up on adrenaline addiction. There are support groups that may be able to help you. You know how serious this is. I am not familiar with this addiction. You really need a professional to help you sort this out. But until you do, please use the forum where you won't feel so alone and so lost right now.
