It really is not a good idea to come off anything cold turkey. It will make you very ill. So no I have not tried it and would not recommend it. Gemma x

hi janet, my o/h has just come off her mirtazapine after 9 mnths, due to weight gain, she was on 45mg , there is a proper way to come off them by reducing very gradually, she had to go down to 30mg for 2 weeks, then 15mg for 2 weeks, then liquid ( mirtazapine ) 7.5 mg for 2 weeks, 6 weeks in all, hope this helps , good luck . love jasper xx

Hi, Do NOT come off them cold turkey, gradually cut down on them,I was on tolvon, for years, its mostly the same as mirtzapine, and I had panic attacks, loss of balance, blurred vision, nausea, every morning, couldn't sleep, head all over the place, and that was coming off slowly...so I really wouldn't do it cold turkey...love Miarose xx

Please don't feel like I am trying to go against everybody's advice I am definitely NOT, but 7 weeks ago I came off Paroxetine cold turkey (the doctor knew) and other than Parasthesia and a fortnight of feeling horrid, I got no side effects. I am starting to feel horrible again, but I am trying to fight through.

Have you ever missed a dose before? I have read of some people who have missed a single dose and got side effects from it, if this is you then I would definitely say to increase gradually.

As somebody else mentioned, consult your doctor as they know yo u best and can give good advise based on what they know about you.

I know your question was asked 4 years ago. I am wondering how you are making out now, did you have success coming off the medication?

I too had been taking it for 10 years and I am in the process of coming off it. I reduced the dose from 30 to 1.87 mg over 5 months then stopped. I am dizzy with headache and nausea for the past 5 weeks. Not sure how much more I can take :(

Not what you're looking for?
