Propranolol and Mood/Sleep

I have been taking propranolol for a few weeks, and have noticed a very sudden shift in my mood. I am extremely irritable and am snippy with everyone in my household.

I take propranolol twice throughout the day, could it be that I am irritable in the evening due to the medication wearing off?

It has also been taking me a long time to fall asleep, which is not like me, I’m usually a “head hits the pillow and I’m out” kind of sleeper. Hence I don’t know if the irritability is due to getting less sleep or if it’s possibly a side effect of the medication.

Has anyone had any experiences with this on propranolol?

Thank you for your response. I definitely feel it relaxes me when I take it but it’s not until it’s worn off that I feel very irritable. Can’t see anything about that on the side effect sheet, but it does say it can give you nightmares, so I wonder if it can effect your sleep in other ways?

I take it for performance anxiety especially for public speaking. It really helps.
