Been waiting for these Lion's Mane beauties for a few weeks now π€€
How do you ingest them?
Lion's Mane I just saute in olive oil or butter. 1/4 inch slices, 2 mins each side til crispy and season with a pinch of truffle salt. It's in the bowl next to the stove.
Yellow curry with ancient grain mixed rice, scallops calamari and shrimp π¦, with shiitake, white button and maitaki frondosa mushrooms. Topped with fresh cilantro and chives.
I love experimenting with flavors, textures and combinations.
One of my daily favs is sauerkraut, steamed beets and avacado π₯ who KNEW?!? I'm a HUGE foodie.
OMG... I can smell it from here.... I have got to make a trip to the sea food market....
It is absolutely delicious ππ€€ OUTTA this world π
Yeah?.... so have you tried them?..... there are so many varieties you can eat, but without years of experience... I'm a chicken.... I have to be careful even when I was picking Chanterelles which are pretty distinct....there is a False Chantelle. I would love to try the local boletes ....but will get more info first.
I was referring to the curry...
All the mushrooms I have are from the store. I would not be so bold as to think I could discern between edible and poisonous. That's not a mistake worth making...the stakes are too high, even for me, and I consider myself a bit of a risk taker or boundary pusher, under the proper circumstancesπ€π
Oh.... got it. I took that little beauty to the mushroom festival that the mushroom society has every Sept. and Oct.....and this guy did say they were edible. But like you, I wasn't going to chance it. There are tons that are edible...but they don't necessarily taste great. If it's medicinal, taste isn't important to me, but for cooking...for sure.
Where did you say you get your fresh mushrooms when in season? I used to go everywhere...usually local country markets had varieties, and also a Japanese market I used to go to. My favorite though was at the festival. I got two dehydrators for the boletes and they reconstitute really well,. I love wild mushroom soup and some homemade bread on those rainy nights up on the Oregon coast...those were some of my favorite memories.....but now I'm making new ones.
I get the shiitake from trader joes. All the others I get from Sprouts.
I used to get dried shiitakes for stir-fry at 'Chinatown' when I would go to 'The City'...ie... San Francisco.... they would come in huge bags there, and were affordable. Some of these babies can be pricey like fresh morels...
Do you get fresh Reishi and how do you use them?... I remember some of the mushroom hunters showed me them growing in the wild, and I am fairly educated on Asian medicinal mushroom info...and know the amazing potential as an anti-carcinogen these shelf mushrooms have.
I am always on lookout for new options...but they're limited

Do these help with mood or just for eating?

This was only other mushroom powder company that I thought about purchasing from. Probably will try their tremmela powder.
Are they better as powder? I can by them fresh at the market.
I think you are so amazing. They look great! I love to find different types of mushrooms when I go hiking. I love that some mushrooms benefit the brain like Lionβs Mane.
Here's a beauty that grew around the cottage we stayed at every year near the Oregon coast...
here's the other ones I was talking about...
Gotta stick with the same name... it's in Honor of my American Pitbull Terriers... that's where Pitts comes from ππΆ
Awesome pictures!
See you on the full π, my brightest twinklystar π MOON sister
Sorry I'm just now seeing this...
I always wanted to go to Oregon, find the massive honey mushroom and give it a big cuddle π
