I just arrived and staying till late and waking up at 9am to travel back is too much. I like how here i save money and have more space but don't like mom drinking. It stresses me out. Im constantly stressed and this annoys my sister. I better try to play it cool

Doesn't your sister live with Mom? How does she handle living with an alcoholic? Remember that your Mom has a DISEASE that's mental, physical and emotional, as well as a form of spiritual sickness. Please stop being "upset" or angry with her. You cannot stop her drinking just because you hate it. She is the one who has to decide if she wants to stop. The tragic truth is that unless the alcoholic stops drinking, s/he will usually end up in either the graveyard or a mental institution.

Take it from one who knows. I grew up with an alcoholic mother, and I'm an alcoholic myself, who has been in recovery for a number of years. Trust me, even though your mother may not show it, she is filled with self-loathing, shame and fear.

If you are in her home, try to practice both detachment and compassion. The last thing your family needs is more emotional drama in a situation that is already dysfunctional.

Why is that? I did not intend to hurt you; I shared the truth as I've experienced it.

I'm not sure what is horrific. If it is what my post said about alcoholism, surely as an educated young woman you are aware of the dangers of alcoholism! I'd be surprised if your your coursework has not covered the psychology of addiction, since it is in part a condition of the mind.If not, please educate yourself about this deadly disease. Just purchasing the book Alcoholics Anonymous and reading it will give you insight. And I would think your therapist could also enlighten you.
