hi have anyone take this? How is this med? Is it controlling like Ativan? Is is addictive?

hydroxyzine is an antihistamine that they use to help with anxiety. Usually knocks people out and drys up your sinuses. Does help people with anxiety and sleeping.

Good to know, I take lexapro, is helping however this new med I wanted a lil more I have a kid who needs attention I can’t take it during the day

It's just an antihistamine. Ativan is narc. It's great for anxiety, but hard to get. Most people just prescribe anti depressive meds, and try to say it's for anxiety. Anxiety meds are for anxiety. I recommend Ativan for those of us who have severe anxiety and depression. You'll sleep or just relax in about 20 mins. That's been my experience.

I had Ativan that make me more anxious abd I know it was narc it was hard to get off it a lot of side effects, I am not severe anxiety like I was just enough for calm down amd get my life going again

I take it more for sleep. It works good, but I only take it at night.

thanks! Now I understand why I got ask how’s my sleep, I am with energy but at night I wake up for 1-2 hrs

Yes! That was me! It’s an antihistamine that they give surgery patients to calm down a bit before they administer the sedative. I do know my sleep has improved since taking it. If I do wake up now it is a very short time and I fall right back to sleep.

great to know, is a new med so doc said it will get better but I also like to know stories because we are real life and help each other,

Honestly? I’ve been on it for close to 4 years and have no issues with it! I did have an issue of a post nasal drip cough in the morning, it only was when I first woke up, but I haven’t had that in quite a while.

I take it for severe anxiety but only use as needed. I don’t worry about being addicted because I am careful about how I use it. I have been on a benzodiazepine for many years. Never felt the need to abuse or use more than necessary.

Hey there! I’m currently on 150 mg of Sertraline everyday and take 150 mg of Hydroxyzine when needed for severe anxiety. My body can handle it pretty well. It works phenomenal for me and I really recommend it. It makes you tired if you can deal with that. For me when my anxiety is so bad the tiredness feeling helps me take my focus away from my anxious thoughts and more on the fact that I’m tired. If you can handle the tiredness then it does help you relax.
