Hi, Yes, I have taken Citalopram in the past, I kind of think back to it as a stable happy drug, never felt out of touch like some other antidepressants I took, came off the drug as I was looking to treat pain and needed to combine two other drugs that suited me better.

It is prescribed in its millions now, remember reading a review on Adrian Childs some time back few of his struggles he took Citalopram, I took max 20mg a day, with unaware side affects.

One thing that surprised me in my early days of taking antidepressants, I was never asked or given a mental health assessment? after a while I thought that strange and,

Later in life I kind of think I eventually switched on and requested psychotherapy, first thing they did was give me a mental health assessment, what a shock, I was top of the scale, both depression and anxiety and another surprise, truama.

I than went on a bit of a journey to get some propert diagnosis, some private, some NHS, to establish Why, What was going on, like What was affecting me, and when I started to understand this, with therapy, positive things started to happen, there is no way I could have done this on my own, but from that point on my life it changed dramatically for the better. best wishes.

Thank you so much. How were you when you started them I’m feeling quite nauseous and anxiety has spiked a little.

Your most welcome, great to find share experiences. I am trying to remember with citalopram, I kind of think all antidepressants took me time to adjust when I started them.

I tried all three types of antidepressant SSRI, SNRI and trycyclic, I started to make a note of the antidepressant category and how that affected me, I do know the trycyclic category gave me the stongest side affect but I took this to help nightmares and sleep issues, so not so bad as not trying to function in the day.

I tell though, I eventually went onto venlafaxine slow release that targets anxiety and this is the drug that helped the most to control my overall feelings of desperation and reduced my depression. bit of a cycle I know. best wishes

I was on it many years ago for several years after the Prozac I was on stopped working. It, too, stopped working after several years. Never had a problem with side effects.

It's been many years but from what I remember had no problem since I was switching from one SSRI to another. Part of your trembly and anxious feeling could be from anticipating side effects but I don't know. Hope it works out for you!

If you are prone to anxiety it's common to have some anxiety when starting a new med and it's because the anxiety makes you hypersensitive and tend to blow things out of proportion. It can take 2 - 3 weeks before a med starts to work and make any differences so the best thing you can do is try to relax some and let your mind and body adjust and go on with your day.
