The mind can be very powerful, when you gain control !

Actually a placebo effect is based on the premise you think something is working or not working but you don’t know that it is. So it is the paradox of gaining control. This is the challenge of mental health care. Ssri studies have always been difficult because patients really want it to work. Scientists get widely different results from different trial solely based on how the drug is presented. It is a complicated topic.

It really is complicated, Blueruth, I agree.

Case in point, from my own personal experience.

After tapering Clonazepam, sleep was a huge issue, to put it mildly. I researched and found that Chamomile tea works very well for those who have the problem I was experiencing. So, I would brew a cup of Chamomile, two tea bags in a cup, and drink it maybe an hour or so before bedtime. This actually worked.

Now, was it because I wanted it to work, or because it just did work, like I had read? Family members who tried the tea before bed had the opposite effect, it did not help with their insomnia( which was not due to benzo tapering) at all, in fact they complained they were up all night, having to pee. ☺️

Same with most “natural” treatments. Most of the time when someone says such and such herb works I wonder how much is wanting it to work. Not just mood boosting but also skin “natural” alternatives. Very few actually have data supporting it and believe me there are studies, especially in Europe where they don’t have such a powerful pharma lobbies. St John’s wort is one that didn’t pass repeated studies. CBD is another. I thought a high dosage was helping early on. I think it was placebo effect. Now that the market is saturated I don’t think there is enough to be anything other than placebo effect. It could just he hemp oil even. The science is growing for a mix of THC and CBD. But is it different than low dose thc? That mix just puts me to sleep very effectively. (It is the one that is relaxing, sativa?) Way better than chamomile and no drowsiness. I’m just worried about the fact thc stays in your system for a month so I don’t take it often. There is actually a study involving athletes which also seem dubious but who knows?

There is honestly so much misinformation. Mercola is a famous example of it. It looks legit until you start researching it.

Depends on who is funding the study. they always get the result they want, bill gates recommends a book how to lie with statistics, dont believe all the so called study facts !!!!!

Oh... Really? HA HA... Do you mean don't believe all of them or don't believe any of them? Or believe the facts you cherry pick? Dude... I work in data science. I know how to evaluate it.
