Oh man, one if my longest standing friends and I discuss this. Not to toot my own horn but objectively I'm rather smart. Everyone I know that is intelligent seems to also struggle with depression and nihilism.

I would trade all of my intellect for happiness in a heartbeat.

How very Nietzsche, and apropos really, existential nihilism, in which life is believed to be without objective meaning. Many here wonder why they even exist in a world that would only be full of pain and emptiness for them. Depression is a monster in the dark and it's like catching smoke in a bottle to manage it.
