You're in luck, I happen to know everything.

Well I did read that it's not used in Europe because the committee that approves their medications believes that it's benefits don't overshadow the risks.

It is likely to help with sleep since it works on the same receptors as melatonin.

I'm a crotchety old man of 65 and believe it's best to stick with tried and proven ( aka: cheaper drugs.

If you haven't tried an array of SSRIs , SNRIs, and the like, I suggest you ask your doctor why he is suggesting it. For example, what if you take Wellbutrin and try melatonin for sleep.

I'm really going out on a limb and am not advocating that you go against medical advice. I do think that any responsible Clinician will understand your concern.

BTW: just about any medication will produce opposite effects in different people. If my wife takes Percocet, she's asleep in 30 minutes. If I take it, I won't sleep until I stop taking it.

Because I'm a drug addict and she's not.

Hello thankyou for replying. I've tried Melatonin and it did nothing. I've been on lots of things and had bad side effects and weight issues that's why shes suggesting it but maybe it's best to stick with what I'm on although I'm still depressed and putting on 2 stone on top hasn't helped. Thankyou. All the best to you

Just forgot to say I'm a 70 year old female in the UK and Wellbrutin is know as Zyban over here and only used for smoking cessation. Thankyou

Buproprion is the generic name here, originally used as an Antidepressant. The drug company relabeled it as Zyban for smoking cessation, which made it so that they didn't have to compete with the very cheap generic medication.

I of course buy the generic.

It's a crazy world! I decided to try it because I gained weight on venlafaxine, and buproprion has weight loss as a side effect. I also decided to believe that it would work for me and that I Would lose weight. I am of course losing weight!
