You need to carefully wean yourself off of it. You will awful if you go cold tutkey.
Read the Ashton Manual. It gives the best advice on weaning off Benzodiazepines. And good luck!!
Hi Scruffeddupkitty, PrimoB is right in that the Dr. Heather Ashton method of
weaning off Benzos is a safe and widely used method. I had been left on a small
dose of Xanax for 30 years when it no longer worked. Was switched to Ativan that
didn't do anything. I decided I wanted off all Benzos. My psychiatrist specializes
in Benzo addictions/Dependency patients. I was the latter. He used the Ashton method on me. Because of the length of time I was on Xanax, it took me 2 years to wean off it
safely. It's been over 5 years that I am benzo free. Good Luck x
