Wellbuterin seizures????

Had my first seizure month ago and MRI ddnt reveal anything.....been reading that Wellbuterin for about a year and wonderin if it could be the meds??? Anyone experience this on this med???

I do have a relative who was taking Wellbutrin & hav seizures. She was in the hospital for 5 days and had extensive tests. Everything was ruled out and it was determined that it was caused by the Wellbutrin. It is a listed side effect for this medicine.

Wow! So what med did she try after wellbuterin...I’m so afraid to change meds bc of side affects...trying diff meds scare me

She was taking Wellbutrin to help stop smoking, not for depression. After the seizures she was so scared she stopped smoking right away and stopped the Wellbutrin. There are many other medicines that do not have seizures as a side effect. Examples are Paxil (which I take and have had zero side effects) Zoloft etc. The best thing is to talk to your doctor about what to change to.

Hi! You say this was your first seizure? Have you had any previously and since this episode? If last question is YES, was your med in your system?

What part of body was MRI? Blood tests done? Any brain scan? Was Welbuterin(sp?) in your system or not? Any other meds in your body, or were any not there that usually are in your system?

Had a similar experience 2 years ago. Only thing found was there was no or a lower about of xanax that is usually in my system. 4 days in hospital with every type of blood work, urine samples, brain scan, MRI of back, etc. Specialists not certain if the lower amount in my body caused the seizure, but I am CERTAIN I take it every day as scheduled by my MD ever since. But told me I did not have a seizure disorder.

What did your specialist say after your hospital stay?

Not understand when you wrote you been reading Welbutrin.......

Only taking wellbuterin..MRI, bloodwork and urine came back okay...scheduled to see neuro soon but I’m thinking it was meds

I am about to start talking Wellbutrin & read about seizures being a possible side effect. I was scared, didn't take it & contacted my doctor. I was told if had no family history, not a heavy drinker & bulimic.... that I'm not likely to have a seizure. That Wellbutrin would not increase my chances of one. I was also told once you stop (under medical advice) there's like no withdrawals, an "easy" stop. I hope you talked to your psy. doctor about what's going on & your concerns. I also hope they figure it all out.... keep us up to date 💛
