Apaxiban tummy irritation

Hi everyone hope you are all keeping well, two weeks ago I changed from rivaroxiban to Apaxiban due to the first one irritating my stomach etc, so not to bad on Apaxiban but still getting lots of gurgling noises and wind and burping a lot, Doctor prescribed me lansoprazole but I’m weary now of taking this, I thought the side affects would be temporary but they seem to be dragging on also seem to be going to the toilet more, doctor did say blood thinners can interfere with your GI tract?

What Dr. probably means is that this med is aggravating your vagus( vagal nerve) and the GI tract is suffering the consequences. If you don't know what I mean, suggest you Google Vagus Nerve.

Hi lugs,

I suffered with constipation the first few weeks of taking Aproxiban, then it just disappeared.

Touchwood I have had no other problems, hope it settles down for you soon

Sorry you are having this reaction! I am on apixiban for a couple of years now, and haven't had any side effects at all (except for the miraculous improvement of my migraines). Maybe give your doc a call? Good luck!

I have been on both meds and had extremely bad stomach pain. I didn't have any imaging done, but based on where my pain was, it was concluded I have an ulcer from the blood thinners. I take ulcer meds now and have no issue with my stomach any more.

Thanks Daneball that’s very interesting, I’ve just today contacted my GP again and he’s going to send a sample of to be tested for H pylori which is an infection of the stomach and could indicate an ulcer, could I ask you what meds your taking for ulcer? I’m currently taking lansoprazole, and I’m glad your ok now

raprabrazol. Not totally sure of spelling, sorry. The pain would go straight through to my back, under my shoulder blade and burned and ached something fierce. I have heard H pylori can also cause similar symptoms. good luck.
