ACSMA is holding its first Patient Choice Awards to celebrate the work of dedicated health professionals and carers!
ACSMA was was established with the objective of achieving greater access to self-monitoring for people who are on long-term warfarin and for self-monitoring technologies to be available on NHS prescription. Many of the 1.2 million people in the UK on long-term warfarin are receiving excellent care and support in managing their condition. The dedication and professionalism of healthcare professionals working in anticoagulation services play a vital role in ensuring the best outcomes. In addition, carers and family members play a vital supporting role, particularly where the person on long-term warfarin is a child, or is otherwise vulnerable or elderly.
Earlier this year, ACSMA invited its network of members and supporters to nominate individuals for a Patient Choice Award across the UK. The response has been fantastic and ACSMA have received many nominations for GPs, nurses, carers and clinicians whom their patients consider have gone above and beyond the call of duty. There are three categories: healthcare professional of the year, carer of the year and outstanding achievement. The winners will be announced at the event itself.
I hope that you will be able to join us to congratulate the winners of the Patient Choice Awards, together with other members of parliament, patients, clinicians and members of the anticoagulation community, at this special event.
