Urinary tract infection (UTI)

I am with urine catheter last 8 months. From the beginning I am suffering UTI. Main symptom is fever. Hospital intravenous antibiotic is good to stop the fever. The bladder infection seems to be chronic. At home after 5 days tablets antibiotic the fever is immediately back.

Due to the fever I am loosing legs power, I am not able to stand.

Is there any way out from this state?

I have had several episodes of UTIs but thankfully they have got better after a course of antibiotics. It's worth making sure the docs are using the correct antibiotic for UTIs. The one they used for me which is apparently designed for bladder infections is Nitrofurantoin. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitro...

An infection like this does have a big affect on the legs I found. You have to get the infection cured. It will get better, so don't give up hope.

Once you are better you might want to try taking D-Mannose regularly. There's some published evidence that this works. It operates by preventing bad bacteria from adhering to the wall of the bladder. I have been taking it for about 6 months. Not available in the UK on prescription but I can buy it by mail order.

What I’m seeing and hearing you need to stay on antibiotics. There’s a protocol to follow with Professor James Malone-Lee for chronic UTIs.

I can’t pee because I have spinal cord injuries. I use an intermittent catheter - so regularly I catheterise myself with a single use catheter that is then thrown away. It definitely helped me in terms of UTI’s. For the first year after my injuries I had a bag and very frequent infections. Maybe you could ask about this?
