For those with adrenal involvement in their AMN, how does it affect your appetite?
Personally, I need to eat very frequently. As a holistic nutritionist, I prioritize a well-balanced diet rich in essential nutrients. However, I often find myself hungry again within an hour or two after a meal, but do stick to many smaller sized meals each day. I once experimented by eating a large meal until I was completely full, only to discover that I was just as hungry afterward as if I had eaten a smaller meal. If I ate large meals all the time, I'd likely gain significant weight.
I also find it necessary to eat before bedtime. Each night, I wake up at least once or twice feeling extremely hungry and needing a small snack. In the mornings, I often feel nauseous due to intense hunger.
Does anyone else experience similar issues? Current research suggests that diet doesn't significantly lower VLCFA levels, as the body continues to produce them regardless. However, I can't help but worry about it. Despite maintaining a healthy weight and overall health, I'm concerned about potential disease progression and the high cost of food each month.

Definitely don't want to skip a meal or I get sick. I have a great appetite and it isn't sporadic like you. Think main thing is to eat quality foods that don't cause inflammation. I think everyone is different on what foods agree with them and if they get hungrier often or not. If you are getting hungry like that maybe eat macadamia nuts in between meals, because it's a healthy fat. I don't know if there is a specific diet for our disease, but I would assume healthy fats is important like salmon and olive oil, plus avoiding processed foods, fried foods, and sugar because they're extremely inflammatory. Main thing is to stay active, do best you can with your diet, keep low stress. We can live a fuller life than people think. I've had this disease for a little over 10 years and am doing ok. More active than I was 6 years ago.
Thank you for your response! I’m a holistic nutritionist, so I tend to eat quite healthy. Very rarely do I consume processed foods, sugar, artificial sweeteners, etc. I’m just wondering if there’s a link with having adrenal insufficiency, and just in the back of my head I have a concern with potential further disease progression is all.
