London MIN-102 trial and coronavirus

Hi all,

I was due for my final appointment at NHNN on 7th April but I had a call on Thursday from the nurse, Tiggy, saying that everything has been postponed indefinitely because of the coronavirus epidemic.

They don't know how long this will last, but appear, at least for the moment to be assuming at least a 12 week halt in the normal functioning of the hospital. I have medicine for about that period of time and they said they would send me more if needed.

On the 7th April, I will now have a phone interview with the consultant, probably Dr Krishna, to fill in the questionnaires and that will be about it. All the tests will have to be done at a later date, as will the MRI scan and echocardiogram.

I live reasonably close to London and said that they were welcome to come to my house to do the tests, or that I could easily go to another local NHS establishment to meet them and do the tests. Insurance means they can't do the former, but they said that the latter might be possible. However, perhaps the biggest problem is that medical staff, including Tiggy, would likely be reassigned to coronavirus over the course of the next few days.

So the overall message is that everything is on hold, probably for some time. They will send more medicine if we need it.

Hope you're all doing fine and avoiding the coronavirus.

Angus
