Silly, but serious.

Yeh, ok so we all suffer various levels of AMN. If you are anything like me you have super heavy legs. Feet stuck to the floor, and the toes all worn off on your shoes.

I do a lot of thinking, I got the time, and I got me thinking, what if you amputated my legs and give me prosthetics? Like I pretty much only suffer below the belt.. So how about ditching what I got and getting me some spanky fake legs. Technically I could be "normal" again.

like I said its silly, but feasible? I don;t see why not.

BONUS:

I guess I would eat less cos I am lighter, and I wouldn;t need trousers anymore, just some kind of ass-warmer, so economically its a cool idea.. Hell, there are so many reasons to cut your legs off!

For the record I think I would want to keep them after. I am not comfortable not knowing where they are.. I don;t have a particular use for them right now, but I could throw them for my dogs to fetch or a doorstop or something.

Hope this made you smile. Life is for laughing.

Love it. To avoid the cerebral and non cerebral type remove the head as it is the source of it all the issues

Decapitation as a cure for AMN? I'm gonna honestly say I hadn;t even thought of that. You sir, are a genius.

I am now imagining heads in jars like on Futurama.

True? and I wonder what the future does hold ? My skull may require additional assistance

Or are you suggesting cut off the head and dispose of it and carry on just with your body? Also a plan...

I have recently thought of this exact thing! :-)

and? feasible or not?

Having literally looked into this, it the scarring process is long and difficult apparently, other than that seems realistic.

Do you have pain in your legs as well? Unfortunately that may not go away even with amputation and the “hip swing” of prosthetics probably wouldn’t be smooth/fluid due to spinal cord damage so walking would likely still be out. The pain can originate in the spine itself and result in phantom limb pain, where the legs still hurt like hell even if it’s gonzo and your dog is playing with it in the yard. 🤦‍♀️.

Yep, I’ve thought about it too. Lol

I am waiting on my cyborg body to arrive from Amazon.com lol (I have some other fun broken stuff in addition to AMN so I need to just move my consciousness into another body please!)

I am pretty sure I am in pain all the time, but I don't feel it anymore. I am generally off my face (medically) on weed so everything is numb.

The reason I can't walk almost at all is cos my toes don't work whatsoever. Cut 'em off and I'm pretty sure it would be a different story. Buttock spasms would still be a problem I assume. But if I can get rid of foot, calf, knee and thigh spasms, thats a good start.

Love it! I needed the laugh. If it wasn’t for spinal damage and phantom pain it would be great.

Gruesome I know but last year when I was in dire pain from burning neuropathy in the soles of my feet, I wanted to cut them off!

Getting a wheelchair is the mechanical version of cutting your legs off. Same result.

I laughed! I do think we all have those days where we "just want to cut them off". Not to harm yourself, but for relief. #AMNSucks

Great post LessThanRich. I've seen athletes running or walking with high-tech prosthetic legs and thought the same thing. But I guess I'm holding out hope for improved gene editing--maybe they can someday repair my mutant ABCD1 gene. I, however, am 69 yrs. old, so they'd better hurry up if they're gonna help me! Thanks for making me smile!
