Hi,
I was wondering does the NHS provide scalp biopsys?
Are there any scalp biopsy clinics anyone can recommend in London?
Hi,
I was wondering does the NHS provide scalp biopsys?

Did you pay for both?
I was referred to NHS dermatology and had a biopsy taken. still waiting on results.
all done NHS
Thank you!
Are the NHS dermatologist generous in giving the biopsys out when requested?
Good luck on the results!
I do not know. I guess your first step would be to go to your GP for a referral. There are private ways to have a consultation with a Dermatologist if you have a BUPA or Spire hospital nearby. Sometimes it is worth telephoning them direct and asking the cost if you do not have medical insurance cover. If you have medical insurance cover call your provider. It is a way to short circuit the waiting lists on the NHS
I have an dermatologist appointment in early December and it will be my second one. This time I would like to request for a scalp biopsy to see if I have TE or AGA. This is so that I can decide on how to treat my hair issue. Not knowing is such a pain.
Hello, did you get referred to these dermatologist as i was referred to one in Surrey and they have done several and still cant find a result
Hi
I am new to this site and hope I can help you.
Having been diagnosed with Alopecia in Nov.2015, and after trying various shampoos and cream for my scalp which did not appear to help much, I went back to my Doctor. After approx. 2 years of still losing my hair my Doctor finally referred me to a Dermatologist in Sept. 2017. ( I did have to ask him to refer me). My appointment for Dermatology on the N.H.S. was in the November of that year.
I was given steroid cream Mometasone and had a biopsy done. My biopsy result came back in December 2017 and I was diagnosed with Lichen Planopilaris or Scarring Alopecia.
So yes, you can get a scalp biopsy done on the N.H.S.
I hope this helps.
