I found out recently that I have a glycol allergy along with many of its petroleum derived friends (like propanediol, phenoxyethanol, PG, and so on). I’m also terribly allergic to Blue No. 2 dye. I think that might be related to it in some way.
I was wondering if there’s anyone here that has dealt with MH issues. If so, what is your PEG free treatment regimen?
Personally, I am undergoing bilateral ECT 1x/week. I’ve been on several meds which either triggered an allergic reaction and/or didn’t work. Bilateral ECT works for me, but I’m struggling to reduce the frequency of my treatments. I’m thinking about asking my doctor and anesthesia team to add ketamine to my anesthesia regimen in hopes of additional antidepressant benefits.
Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Mental health wise it is a struggle because the meds I used to rely on for treatment now all contain glycols. Every pill I can locate for depression and anxiety is contaminated with PEG or similar. I cannot afford to have them specially formulated, either. I had to get off my psych meds cold turkey because of the formulations all changing to include glycols. All I've got, rather inadequate, are L Theanine supplements, Ashwagandha, and 5-HTP. These things are mild but better than nothing. I did not have any success with St. John's wort. I tried probiotics, also no perceptible effect. Clean diet and exercise, while good for my health, has not helped the mental stuff. I also use guided meditations at night because otherwise I don't sleep at all. That said, it is a struggle and I think I will always be mentally ill. If you can afford a therapist, that's something you could try. Otherwise you can go on Youtube and watch videos by therapists such as Douglas Bloch who deals with depression and anxiety. This is a hard road and I hope something works out for you.
I ran into this same problem - all anti depressants have PG. A *slight* work around I discovered is that it’s the “extended release” aspects of all Rx that brings in the PG. for my sons ADHD medicine we finally figured out if we get plain old tablets that only last for 4 hours, they are PG free. We did find that venlafaxine tablets (NON extended release) were PG free. But ultimately we discontinued all anti-depressants and focused on cognitive behavioral therapy which Was is a much better route in the end.
