I am so anxious about the up coming operation and i find the surgeons are not empathetic at all. I have been advised to talk and put a pain management plan in place but have no idea how to approach this.
I do not know how i will cope if the flare up is unbearable.

I had hysterectomy nearly 2 years ago. Made huge amount of difference to life.
Have multiple health issues including ME. Had appropriate pain relief in hospital. I DID leave hospital a bit too early (begged consultant to let me leave) mainly because was exhausted and wanted my own bed! Hospitals are not very restful places! They kept waking me at night to monitor me etc.
I did complain to GP that still feeling rough after couple of weeks and she had to remind me I had just had major surgery! Returned to work after 10 weeks but again too soon. Lasted a few days then had another 2 weeks off work.
Also concentrate on why you having op..... my life and periods were becoming impossible so having hysterectomy has made a huge difference in my life! Yes it has been difficult to accept definitely no children but I had tried all options so hysterectomy was the only answer.
You will have some pain but also be on morphine then strong painkillers and pain does ease.
I have spoken to the consultant about it and asked to be handled with care on the operating table :P. I have children and feel blessed, i have had operations previously and do not do well at recovery stage. suppose i am anticipating the worst now.
I have additional significant health including breathing problems so was more concerned that I would wake up!
Try to be more positive. Am sure attitude of mind also helps..... If you expect to be in loads of pain then maybe you will?! Try to think you will be in no more pain than anyone else having op. Also take advice given after op. I think one of biggest dangers is to try to do to much too soon!
thank you I believe i know where you are coming from. i will be admitted in couple of days and will post here when i can. Ofcourse i am awake and it is 4.16am.
I underwent a full hysterectomy and oopferectomy 8 years ago. I found the nurse were brilliant as they explained the before and what to expect however I was not told the physiological affects. You are not able to do house work but it was more the emotional side I found. Being around babies and pregnant women. Counselling was given as moods were up and down and I am now going through my menopause and I was 32 when this occurred.
