Week 12 post ablation for PAF

Reporting in. I think it’s going well, energy levels good. Doctors said I should be back where I was at this point. Whilst I wouldn’t say that, I have had only a few beats of what looks like AF (wearing Frontier X device) it’s not looking too bad. I do quite a lot of sport so have been doing couch to 5k, and gone back to free weights in the gym. My heart rate has return to pre-ablation levels.

The most annoying thing is that I still get ectopics; ventricular and atrial. I went through about a week of ventricular ectopics at night which I have never had before. That seems to have calmed down now. Not in numbers that would worry a cardiologist (eg 20), but neither can I be pleased about them. The first EP I saw said they would do an EP study which I took to mean they would see where the ventricular ectopics were coming from. I am pretty sure they didn’t do this, just isolated the pulmonary veins. I have a follow up next week at the arrhythmia clinic so I’ll see what they have to say.

Sounds like a great result. Most people seem to suffer from ectopics following ablation but they seem to settle down. It can take something like 8-12 months to feel the full benefits.

Good luck.

Hello

Thank you for sharing your update, try to remember everyone recovers from a procedure at a different rate, you are doing the right thing by continuing to be vigilant and note any side effects or new symptoms, all this information will be invaluable at next week's clinic appointment. If you have any doubts or questions ahead of then, please do contact your doctor for advice.

Kind regards

great to hear! Understand the ectopics and same here and was a real annoyance to me but I’m becoming more accepting of it albeit like others have said it does appear to have settled down a lot over time and I’m not overly concerned about the ectopics now even when they start again - good luck with living the life you want 👍🤞🙏👌☘️
