A/Fib/Chest Pain

Hello again. Back in hospital on Saturday after nearly passing out on my sofa about an hour after taking the new medicines. Quite scary really as I live on my own. This time it was a direct 999 call with the 'usual' questions asked. However they sent someone pretty quick this time. I ended up being driven to A and E in a paramedics vehicle which I am grateful for. Went to RAC and went through the usual process of triage, but as usual ECG 'normal' and blood tests 'normal.' so with that results in mind they automatically assume that everything is fine and are happy to send you home but am afraid this time I objected to that suggestion. I usually just accept their decisions but this time I stated that I wasn't prepared to go home and the same thing happen again on Sunday so they said I could stay overnight for observation. They were thinking along the lines of the new BP medication dropping my blood pressure too quickly. Cardiologist came up to see me on Sunday and actually said if I wanted I could stay but I thanked him and went home. Yesterday [Monday] it happened again but only got a really bad headache this time - BP 99/62 so thankfully this was manageable. I was also told by Cardiologist that Angina can be present without any irregular ECG reading or blood tests for Troponin levels which I really was not aware of. Advised to take it easy until my Outpatient appointment and avoid hills.

I'm so sorry to hear all that you have been through. I live on my own and I know how worrying it is when you don't feel well and there is no one to keep a close eye on you. Have they reduced the dose of medication that makes you feel so dreadful? It really doesn't sound like it agrees with you.

Do you have any family looking out for you? My youngest daughter lives about 9 miles away but I always text her at her place of work if I don't feel well. I also text her if I go up a ladder to the attic and then text again when I'm down.

I don't think I'd agree to take those pills if they made me feel ill. Has the dose been reduced?

Wishing you well.

Jean

Hi again Jeanjeannie. No I have to stay on the doses that they have given me. Yesterday I had the usual headache and today to. I was advised that this is a side effect. BP more stable today after I took them as it was up around 157 at 7.00 a.m so they are definitely working. Cardiologists are wonderful once you get to them. They explained everything that could possibly be wrong from requiring stent[s] to an artery that might be going into 'spasms' to arteries within my heart not functioning properly. Taking it all in my stride and resting as they advised so no more walking to get my Grandson from school. I only did some housework last Tuesday and that started off the chest pain so have got to learn to slow down which isn't easy. Both of my Sons work offshore but thankfully my eldest one was home and my youngest one came back yesterday so he did food shopping for me. Thank you for your kind words. Take care.

I can sympathise with you . I have come off a nasty blood pressure medication called Amlodipine, that was making me feel awful. It’s horrible. Fortunately, they’ve upped my Sotalol heart drug, which lowers blood pressure, which I didn’t realise, even though I’ve bee pn taking it a long time and my BP seems ok now, so glad I don’t have to take another blood pressure medication. You have to be firm sometimes. Hope you get sorted soon.I am so glad I don’t live on my own, I’d find it very hard.
