Hi all so today I made a decision to go to the hospital for my ectopics as they where so bad (plus it was my daughters birthday) and got there he done a heart check with his stehascope, check blood pressure which was 142/98 and done ECG, he said ECG looked fine all normal apart from slow heart rate due to the beta blocker, gave me no answer to why these ectopics are happening just asked the usual questions have I been taking anything new or added anything to my diet etc just said I forward results to cardiologist still getting the skipped beats so just all confused why this is happening anxiety ain’t helping either

OK. I am in same position with Ectopics but, I can bring 2 suggestions to the table. I purchased a box of Magnesium Citrate which, so far has been a miracle cure for the last 4 days and 4 tablets. I start to notice them only late in the evening.

I notice your blood pressure was high but given circumstances and location at the time, hardly surprising. My blood pressure tends to always be higher end than normal and Ectopics were stopped initially using blood pressure tablets. I would get BP checked and order some of those Magnesium tablets but not the Magnesium Oxide... They don't work and I can confirm that

Thank you @richmert I can confirm I take magnesium glycinate since September last year 1 tablet a day I than increased it to two 6 weeks ago and since my ectopics started to happen everyday since Monday this week I though I give the magnesium a rest for a bit, BP was 137/73 when I came home so went back to normal for me, what’s your thoughts on the magnesium I take any good? I hear citrate is better

I take Mag Citrate every night. Viridian powder half a teaspoon in warm water. I think it helps but not sure. Not prepared to stop it to see..... Re ectopics I don't think I'm getting them but get a lot of symptoms with AFib. Chest pain......dizziness and terror! I also have a bit of heart disease though. Some furring of my arteries.. as I had an angiogram last year. I've heard it said that having some heart disease can cause some chest pain with AFib . As per Dr Sanjay Gupta York Cardiology on Youtube. Have a look at his channell on youtube. He talks a lot about AFib and Ectopics on there. Very informative indeed.

Yeah I’ve seen his videos on ectopics o also had a consultation with him on Friday this AFIB a crazy game what works for one might not work for another I’ve been eating a lot of dark chocolate lately I’ve now stop that it might not have nothing to do with it but you just try and eliminate things that could be causing the ectopics

Dark chocolate is deadly for me. I MIGHT get away with the odd little bit but I wouldn't dare eat a lot now...

Jury is out at the moment... I don't want to tempt fate. I am a lot better than I was since I was close to calling an Ambulance as well. I will not let my Doctor away with doing nothing though. I will insist on ideally 7 day ECG to confirm I am OK.

I am seriously considering buying the monitor then hiring it to my GP.

Can I ask what Ectopics feel like when they are happening?

Padayn01 profile image

Just horrible for me you get a 1 second of the most uncomfortable feeling my your left side of chest

RichMert profile image

I gat a fraction of a second indigestion feel every time it happens

The only thing I can add is that when I was on bisoprolol and my HR was low I would feel more ectopics than I do now.

Stress, anxiety and fighting an illness all bring on my ectopics so I have to try and tune out the ectopics or it is an endless circle

Are you not on bistrsptol now?

in reply toPadayn01

no, thank goodness. I could barely function when I was taking them. I have posted lots about it but the abridged version is 12 months after my ablation my HR was in the low 30's and I was a zombie. It was decided that this was too low and I should come off bisoprolol. Weaning off was a horrible time but I persevered and have been almost bisoprolol free for over 2 years and my HR is 55-65 at rest.

I say almost bisop free because on 3 or 4 occasions I have had a long run of SVT and have taken bisoprolol as a pill in the pocket as prescribed by my EP

And do you still get any ectopics?

in reply toPadayn01

Yes, from time to time, but way less than before. They used to stop me in my tracks and took my breath away at times, but now I am just aware of them.

As I said before, stress or illness will bring them on, sometimes I get bigeminy or trigeminy when fighting an illness, that is still pretty horrible but now I know what it is and the cause I can cope
