Cancellation - Ablation Monday at St George’s London

I have learned so much from reading other posts, so just posting about my ablation on Monday. The hospital rang me yesterday and asked if I could come in. I thought I would! A few weeks ago I would have been more hesitant as I hadn’t had an episode since February and had a stress test that went pretty well. Almost immediately after that, I had a 40 minute episode of AF at 4am, and two more over the next 6 weeks at similar times, the most recent last night which was preceded by half an hour of Bigemini with my HR dropping down to 33/34 momentarily. I got back in rhythm with bisoprolol and 100mg flecanide, but have been advised not to take any more before the ablation if I can avoid it. So hoping to stay in rhythm for the next couple of nights. I’ve got a lot to get done this weekend so I can recuperate properly next week.

I have read the two very helpful sheets from this forum which I have also distributed to my family to save explaining over and over.

Wish me luck!

He is my consultant so possibly. Have you had experience there?

Not yet but he possibly will be doing an ablation for me at some stage. I saw his ablation video on BHF website, he seems to have a very good reputation.

Mine was one year ago today, thinking about it before is the worst part about it so the shorter the notice the better in my opinion. Such a positive experience once you’re in their hands and then feet up for Christmas.

I assume you’ve read the preparing for and recovering from info sheets but here’s a link for anyone that hasn’t.

yes I had brain tumour surgery eith mr Stapleton at St George’s and an ablation with prof behr. Many many appointments there. Very busy but it is a brilliant hospital. One of the top ones. I’ve heard of mark too. He is supposed to be really good.

Good luck for Monday snd all the best
