So I am recovering on the ward after pulmonary vein isolation with general anaesthetic. Felt a bit groggy (obvs), but managed to eat chicken, mash & peas, followed by jam sponge & custard. Very old school but most welcome, even from the rather awkward lying down position. In NSR but have felt a few ectopics. All par for the course I suppose. Biggest problem was having a wee which always gets me after a GA. Eventually, managed with the help of running water in my headphones.
Groin was a bit achy initially, gone off now but haven’t moved it so won’t know really what that will be like. Spending the night here for which I’m quite grateful. It’s a quiet ward so maybe will get some sleep even though it’s really warm with dvt stockings and non- slip socks.
I had my last apixaban on Sunday morning and due to resume at 10pm. So all in all not too bad so far. Due to be discharged 8:30-9am when hubby will take me home before he goes to work, leaving me in tender care of our son who is staying with us for that purpose.

After my last (3rd) ablation I did a wee and it was full of blood. The very young nurse took it away and I had visions of me being rushed to an operating theatre. When she came back into the ward I asked what had been said and her answer was she hadn't shown it to anyone! Well I lived to tell the tale, so guess it was nothing to worry about.
That scenario does not inspire confidence. How long ago was that? I do hope it was an aberration and nothing to worry about. Is it possible that the blood came from your groin wound? I certainly had a lot of bleeding. The nurses pressing down on it every half hour hurt much worse than the ablation itself.
It was 2016. I think she was a trainee nurse. It was my third ablation at the same hospital. I was always kept in overnight as a matter of routine. All in all their service was very good.
Wow, there was a bed for you overnight? That's impressive. After my recent ablation I was turfed out before dinnertime. Glad you have support at home. Don't push yourself -- take it easy.
I asked his name twice but have now forgotten. His name isn’t on the discharge notes and I can’t see it on the arrhythmia team list at St George’s. Rafiz something, quite jolly and round but didn’t hang around to chat.
