AF Ablation at London Bridge

Hi guys, after being diagnosed with AF 18 months ago and two Cardioversions, I had an ablation at London Bridge yesterday which now has me in Sinus Rhythm with a nice strong beat. I’d been in persistent AF for 7 months, so had my doubts wrt a successful outcome, seemed to be 50/70% chance.

The team at London Bridge is amazing and so blessed to led by the wonderful Prof Gill, who is gifted with the natural way he communicates with lay folk like me.

I did have chest pain after the procedure, but one Codeine tab, then one Paracetamol resolved that. I had a couple of low surges, they’re interesting😳, and my groin wound did bleed as I sat myself up for dinner.

I’m so fortunate and pleased to be discharged with a great outcome.

Great news, I had my ablation at London Bridge as well. That was over ten years ago and was successful (though I had some AF and tachy in the blanking period). I had some chest pain for a week after as they had to be quite aggressive with my AF.

Take it slow so you get long term benefit.

Dear Keano I am so glad it all went well. I had an ablation on the NHS last August with Prof Gill”s team and my PAF improved tremendously but I am being considered for 2nd ablation as still milder PAF. We are considering paying privately and I wondered if you had any idea of cost at The London Bridge Hospital.

Make sure you rest and take it easy, the support sheet from this group is very helpful.

Hi LinkJ, I think the hospital fees were £18k, but that’s via the private health provider, so prob more if you pay direct…..how long were you PAF before your ablation?

I was in PAF for 2 years but when episodes it was fast AF which lasted longest 17 hours and it wiped me out so poor quality of life. Since ablation, frequent AF if I stop my low does bisoprolol but only last 1-2 hours and not as extreme. If I keep taking bisoprolol almost nil. I do wonder whether I should just live with things as they are. I do wish you a good recovery and a great result.

I had 2nd ablation 2 weeks ago, I was lucky enough to have the procedure at London Bridge hospital under an agreement with St Thomas’ to try and catch up with NHS backlog. I even had the wonderful Professor Gill perform my ablation. Good luck to all of you with upcoming procedures.

Hi CT, did you have long to wait?

I had my 1st cryo ablation last September and in March was told I was on the waiting list for a 2nd RF ablation. I had a phone call just a week before asking me to go into London Bridge.

That was fairly quick, you were quite lucky then.

Yes, I was very surprised but pleased to get the call, sadly NSR only lasted 5 days. I’m now back in persistent afib, cardiac nurses say to wait the 3 month blanking period so I’m trying to stay optimistic. The 1st ablation lasted less than a month. Wishing you all the best.
