In AF after 10 months, ahh!

I’m not great at interpreting ECG’s and I know no one here knows 100% but can anyone confirm Apple notice I got today is it just AF or is flutter in there as well?

I decided to move some furniture into the garage with my wife it took 2 hours and over did it… then went to a charity thing this morning and got my self dehydrated… all my fault and am so upset at myself as I’ve been really travelling well. I’ve been on low dose metoprolol 10mg and low dose Flecainide 20mg twice daily for last 10 months and all good till my apple alert. ECG confirms suspected AF.

I popped 150mg Flecanide 45 mins ago … how long do I wait before it might work?…. and I remember doctor saying if it doesn’t revert you in 2 hours take another 50mg. It’s Sunday here so no one to call. My HR at rest before PIP ranged 50-90 so not high rate AF

Cheers

As it’s not high I’d leave it until tomorrow - if you’re still getting an AF reading tomorrow morning skip breakfast and don’t drink anything, and go to the hospital. AF in itself is not life threatening in that way, especially if it’s low rate. My EP and cardio have always advised me to wait until morning and if it’s still AF, then to go to the hospital. They need you on an empty stomach so they can knock you out if they decide to cardiovert.

Thank you for your thoughts, there’s sense in that, I’ve had 3 CV’s over the last 2 years but hospital might be a few days trying to get in but as you said it’s low rate

Hi. I just had a look at your heart trace. I cannot see any evidence of atrial flutter. Also, it might be worth getting your potassium levels checked.

Thanks John I’m sure I was dehydrated yesterday so will check

On some of your beats you appear to have no P-wave, which would indicate AF, on some others it is only slight. Given its only from a smart watch, probably not conclusive. But don't listen to some anonymous amateur quack on here, best get a proper ECG.

Speaking from experience of atrial flutter, if it is around it lasts for an hour or hours. It doesn’t pop up for less than a minute. When I have had atrial fibrillation, I have had lots of traces like the one you posted.

I don't think a home ECG detects AFl, does it? Those bumps are likely from the AF. I get them.

No I think you’re right the Apple only looks for AF. I added in a newer post an ecg after some exercise today.. it now says Sinus hopefully it is… and not just a poor Apple algorithm

Looks like afib, not flutter. Maybe time to up the daily Flec to 50mg twice a day, at least for a month or so, until things calm down.
